Why does Vibe need my location?

Vibe shows songs playing near you, so we need a coarse sense of where "near" is. We convert your coordinates to a geohash bucket about 600 metres on a side as soon as we receive them — your exact location is never stored. You can deny location and still browse popular tracks across cities.

Why does Vibe need Spotify?

Vibe reads your currently-playing and recently-played tracks via Spotify's read-only APIs. Without Spotify there are no tracks to share, so a Spotify account is required. Vibe never sees your Spotify password — Spotify handles login and gives Vibe a short-lived access token.

Who can see what I'm listening to?

By default, other listeners in your area see "Someone nearby" with a track. They cannot identify you. If you opt into a Vibe ID, they see a randomly generated handle (e.g. "Late Drive 🌙") — still no real name, no photo. If you choose Browse Only, your listening activity is not visible to anyone.

Vibe also enforces k-anonymity: a feed item only appears once at least 3 people in the same bucket are sharing the same activity. Single listeners can never be singled out.

How do I stop sharing?

How do I delete my account?

Open Vibe → Settings → Account → Delete account. This is an irreversible cascade delete — all your listening events, saved tracks, and account records are removed immediately. Spotify tokens are revoked.

Why am I not seeing nearby tracks?

Does Vibe send push notifications?

Not currently. The notification permission prompt may appear during onboarding for future use, but Vibe does not send remote pushes today.
